The more and more I learn about Truth, tease out or am told aspects of what it represents and what it's role in the story is...
The more I know my fanfic where I shove Wynn into the FMA universe, isn't just going to be ignoring aspects of Arakawa-san's moral argument for the series, but actively counter-arguing parts of it.
It's not that I fully disagree with it. This isn't a complete clash of ideals. But we different on several key smaller details that I actually find to be pretty common in Japanese fantasy stories. Particularly shounen series, but not unique to those.
It's a similar story for when I stick her in Trigun, though the precise details I clash with there aren't the same. Trigun actually does NOT make one particular statement that I see a lot, which bugs me every time. A statement that FMA not only makes multiple times, but is one of the keystones of its moral argument.
I don't really have the brainspace right now to get into what exactly that issue I have is, and what my stance is on it, but it's definitely something regularly on my mind when I'm thinking about my own writing, especially when it comes to my anime fanfic.
