Carnival Scam Science (and how to WIN)

dreadlordmrsonBack when I was like, 11? I won a major prize at a tossing the ball in the cup game. The prize was a neat fish that I really liked. The problem was, it was early in the day and I couldn't be lugging a live fish around all day, so I asked them to hold it for me. ...they did not. I came back and they were out, so I got a goldfish instead. However, unlike the fate of many carnival goldfish, we put this one in the 20gal tank and it lived for years. Eventually it got a terrible sore on its side that we probably could have cured if we knew more about fish care but at the time just meant we took it out of the tank and tried to mercy-kill it. Which mostly meant leaving it in a strainer in the sink until it suffocated. My family was not up on proper fish management. We tried. But overall? That random carnival goldfish probably had a longer and happier life than a lot of its brethren in the booth that day.
